Burna Boy to be paid sh128 million to perform in Kenya

Nigeria music heavyweight Burna Boy payment for his performance in the Mad Fun Experience concert scheduled for the 1st of March in Kenya’s capital has left tongues wagging.

The Grammy Award winner will be paid a staggering Ksh.128M making him one of the highest paid musicians to ever perform in Kenya.

Before securing him, event organizers had to adhere to his demands. They would have to cater for his entourage consisting of over 60 people including his famous Outsider band and sound engineers.

The star also has a non-negotiable clause in his contract that he uses a private jet only for him and close associates. While in the country, the star prefers a five-star hotel with specific requirements such a smoking chamber for him and his team.

Through his social media accounts, ‘Odogwu’ has described the event as not just a concert but a celebration of African urban music. The ticket to the event is another thing, VVIP will be going for Ksh.65,000, VIP sh.25,000, regular sh.8,000 and a group of five tickets costing sh.35,000.

The organizers have, however, provided a list of items not to bring during the event: Cameras, selfie sticks or any other recording devices, firearms and any form of drugs are strictly forbidden.

With the recent ‘Occupy’ trend in music concerts culminated by anti-government protests, the Kenya Police has promised security during the event. Traffic within the city will also be affected with authorities urging motorists to plan before the event as congestion is expected on roads such as Lang’ata Road, Likoni Road, and the link from the Southern Bypass to Likoni Road via the Carnivore grounds.

Gates are expected to open at 3 PM and will close at 9 PM and ticket holders will not be allowed to enter the venue after the gates close.

Charisma and Bensoul who was part of the songwriters of Burna’s album ‘Twice As Tall’ that won the Best Music Album will also be performing alongside him.
