President William Ruto has ordered for the immediate fencing off Likoni Technical, Vocational Training center (TVET) in Mombasa County.
This follows cases of land grab with a section of the TVET allegedly grabbed and even buildings constructed on it.
Speaking in Likoni during a stopover to Kwale County, Ruto ordered the fencing exercise to start today ( Tuesday), setting aside a budget of Ksh. 10 million.
He also issued a stern warning to land grabbers in the Coast region.
The president said his government is committed to ensuring that public property is used for the benefit of the public.
“I warn all those land grabbers and brokers against grabbing public land. Public land belongs to all Kenyans. We shall not allow land grabbing to thrive. This land should not be used for individual gain.” He said.
Ruto further said he would be meet with the coastal leadership to consult on how to heal the squatter problem in the region.
“I have consulted with the entire coast leadership on how we can collectively solve this problem,” he stated.
