Matuga OCPD William Cheruiyot collapses and dies

Matuga OCPD William Cheruiyot has died after collapsing in his house in Kwale County.

His body was flown to Nairobi on Wednesday following his family’s request.

Kwale County police commander Reginald Omaria confirmed the death.

He said Cheruiyot was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.

Omaria revealed that Cheruiyot was jolly and upbeat while speaking to his colleagues until noon when they got the disturbing news.

“He even talked to his colleagues well until noon before we heard reports that he had collapsed in his house and rushed to the hospital’, he said.

Omaria said the deceased had drugs (tablets) with him though he was not aware if he was sick.

“The OCPD was having some tablets with him but generally he was just ok and now we have to wait for a post-mortem to tell us the cause of his death”, he added.
