Parents in Mombasa have been urged to adhere to boda boda regulations before allowing their children to work in the sector.
Speaking to Baraka FM, Samuel Ogutu, Chairman of the Boda Boda Operators in Mombasa, expressed concern that many young riders face danger due to parental negligence in following industry rules.
“This will help keep many youths in this sector safe,” Ogutu said.
Additionally, he highlighted growing security concerns among boda boda operators, noting an increase in attacks and robberies targeting riders. In some cases, victims have suffered serious injuries.
Ogutu called on the government to intervene and enhance security for boda boda operators. “This situation is unacceptable, and we need urgent action,” he stated.
