A section of Mombasa residents has criticized political elites for what they describe as premature election campaigns.

Speaking to Baraka FM, the locals condemned the move as unlawful, emphasizing that the official campaign period is still far off. They urged elected leaders to focus on delivering their promises instead of engaging in early politicking.

“We ask our elected leaders to prioritize fulfilling their pledges to Mwananchi rather than engaging in unnecessary campaigns,” said one resident.

The residents further accused politicians of prioritizing personal wealth accumulation over addressing the challenges facing Kenyans. They also criticized the government, claiming it is exerting excessive pressure on citizens while failing to address economic hardships.

“Politicians are too busy looking after their own interests instead of working for the people,” another resident lamented.

Additionally, they attributed the current struggles facing Kenyans to the absence of a strong opposition to keep the government in check.

“The government should implement strict regulations to curb premature campaigns,” they urged.
