A section of United Democratic Alliance leaders in Mombasa County now wants President William Ruto to follow the law and appoint people with disabilities in his cabinet.
Mombasa UDA PWD Representative Maria Fernandes pointed out that PWDs undergo many challenges and should therefore not be left out in the upcoming cabinet.
“We as PWDs go through a lot of challenges, ranging from socio-economic to political challenges,” she noted.
On his part, Haki Kenya Executive Director Michael Nato urged leaders to stick to good leadership to have a slot in Ruto Cabinet.
Speaking in Mombasa Nato said the region has leaders who have expressed better leadership qualities in various ministerial positions.
“We have good leaders who have been working tirelessly in various government positions,” Nato noted.
Meanwhile, Fernandez has urged Gen Zs to halt nationwide protests saying that the president had heard their plight.
“I want to ask the Gen Z to adhere to the law. The president is open to dialogue,” she said.

The protesters have vowed to go to the streets to express their displeasure following the president’s initial appointments of his 11 cabinet members.
Last week President William Ruto nominated the first phase of his cabinet.
